Richard W Burhans Fine Art Exhibit Sept 1st - Oct 31st at APCC ...

Born 1933 in Long Branch, New Jersey, Burhans studied fine art at the New York Phoenix School of Design and graduated magna cum laude in 1955. Upon graduation, he worked as a freelance magazine and book illustrator in New York City.

Burhans created his own company, Burhans Design Associates, in Seattle, Washington. During his 40 year design career Burhans became a successful architectural and marine designer, and his accomplishments were well known on both coasts of the US. Throughout his industrial career, Burhans continued his study of art and produced many landscape, mural and portrait commissions.

After a series of one man shows, Richard and Sallie began work on the concept of their book, St. Nicholas & The Valley Beyond, published 1994 by Penguin USA.

The History of Logging. The Coffee House in Art, Music and Letters, originally painted for Starbucks Coffee is now owned by the City of North Bend.
