APCC’s 24th Annual New Year Celebration Back to In-Person.
Feb 19, 2022 – We welcomed the Year of the Tiger in fantastic fashion at our 24th Annual Asia Pacific New Year Celebration, back to in-person for the first time since the start of the Pandemic. Thousands came to this free family-friendly event at the McGavick Conference Center in Lakewood and were greeted immediately with the sounds of music, the smells of delicious food, and the friendly smiles on the faces of all the different people there.
The Chinese Community put together a spectacular presentation, with China as this year’s featured country. Fifteen countries and cultures performed on the main stage throughout the day, ranging from Japanese Taiko Drumming from Wadaiko at Pierce College, to beautiful traditional Indian Dance by the Nrityalaya School of Dance. The Demonstration Stage was busy with exciting martial arts demonstrations. We are truly honored to have had so many elected officials, dignitaries, and community leaders in attendance with State Senator Mona Das as our Keynote Speaker. The big finale was Guamanian dance from Guma Imahe to close out the event.
A special thank you to the APCC Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and to all who helped make our event such a success! You are so important to us and we are proud to count you as part of the APCC family.
