Job Description
Supervision:
Under the direction of the Mental/Behavioral Program Manager, this position will assist in the outreach, community engagement, and implementation of services, activities, and projects under the Mental/Behavioral Program. The program seeks to destigmatize the use of mental health services, dispel myths about mental illness, remove financial barriers, and promote healthy inner well-being among Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities throughout Pierce County and statewide. This position will be working with people of all ages who may identify as low-income, immigrants, limited English language proficiency, lack transportation options, need medical and health care services, experience a lack of connections and access to resources, and experience cultural and language barriers.
Description of Duties:
Outreach Coordinator(s) will adhere to the following job description on a daily basis:
To plan and implement a culturally responsive outreach plan that develops relationships with cultural groups, community groups, and individuals of Pierce County and statewide who are but not limited to AANHPI populations.
To assist in planning, coordinating, organizing, and implementing activities, services, events, and projects related to contracted grant deliverables and providing mental health wraparound support to, but not limited to, Asia Pacific children, families, and individuals.
To assist in developing and submitting program reports as required in a timely manner such as weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
To attend all required meetings and training for the Mental Health program and as assigned on an as-needed basis.
To represent APCC in Mental/Behavioral Health Program activities as assigned on an as-needed basis.
To help recruit and refer resources as needed to address the needs of children, families, and individual participants/clients.
To recruit and organize volunteers for the Mental/Behavioral Health Program.
To assist in the collection of data related to Mental/Behavioral Health Program outcomes and deliverables.
To report to work as required and approved by the Program Manager/Executive Director.
Responsible for developing and maintaining official program participant files and updating them daily or as needed. Each client must be registered in the program before a participant file is opened. All documents and daily logs must be in the files.
Responsible for keeping all participant/client files confidential in a case cabinet that is locked daily and maintained for up to six (6) years after the participant/client case closes.
To assist in working collaboratively with sub-contracted professionals and other resources for the Mental/Behavioral Health Program as a whole.
And all other required duties by the Program Manager and/or Executive Director.
Will represent Asia Pacific Cultural Center in a positive and respectful manner with moral ethics and integrity at all times.
Qualifications: Must have a current and active driver’s license for Washington State. Must have at least 3-years of experience in the social services sector. Must have experience in working in multicultural settings. Preferred BA/BS degree in education or related field but must have at least an AA Degree in public administration, education, or social service fields. Education can be supplemented by noted excellent experience in working with community programs or settings for 5 years or more. Must have notable experience in leading programs or projects. Experience in working with diverse populations is a plus. Speak another language other than English is a plus. Extra training in working with people is a plus. Must be able to work on and navigate on a computer. Excellent ability to write and speak English. Must be able to work with diverse populations, particularly with people of all ages. Must be trustworthy and be able to be empowered to work independently without direct supervision. Must have initiative to create and implement activities required to advance the Mental/Behavioral Health Program to positive gains.
Compensation:
Salary: $42k to start - depending on qualification
Probation: 6 months from begin date
