BAYANIHAN: Journey of the Philippine Spirit
A Day of Healing, Heritage, and Heart at APCC
This October, Asia Pacific Cultural Center invites the community to come together for a historic celebration of resilience, culture, and unity during our very first Annual Filipino Day — “Bayanihan: Journey of the Philippine Spirit.”
Taking place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the day will begin with a moving tribute to Filipino compassion and courage through the film screening of “Nurse Unseen,” followed by a live cooking demo with Chef Jan Parker, and culminating in an afternoon of vibrant cultural performances, food, art, and community connection through our Filipino Day Fiesta.
This full day of programming honors the essence of Bayanihan — the Filipino spirit of helping one another — a value that continues to shine through our caregivers, artists, youth, and elders.
Morning of Healing and Reflection: Nurse Unseen
8:30 AM – 12:00 PM | APCC Auditorium Presented in partnership with the Rainier Olympic Nurses Association, the Philippine Nurses Association - Emerald City and the Washington State Nurses Association.
Our day begins with a special screening of “Nurse Unseen,” a powerful documentary that explores the untold stories of Filipino and Filipino American nurses — the quiet heroes who risked their lives on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, while facing a resurgence of anti-Asian hate in the streets.
Through moving interviews and archival footage, Nurse Unseen reveals not only the history of Filipino nurses in the United States, but also the deep empathy, strength, and cultural pride that continue to define their service.
Following the screening will be a facilitated discussion and presentation, providing space for reflection, connection, and collective healing.
Virtual screenings for nurses are also available from Oct. 25 to Nov. 7, with an encore discussion on Nov. 6 (6–7 PM). Visit RainierOlympicNurses.org for more details.
Midday of Flavor and Story: Cooking Demo with Chef Jan Parker
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | Hibiscus–Ginger Room
After a morning of reflection, we gather in joy and creativity with Chef Jan Parker, founder of Jan Parker Cookery. Known for her unforgettable flavors and heartfelt approach to Filipino cuisine, Chef Jan has been featured on Food Network’s Chopped and Ciao House.
In this interactive cooking demo, Chef Jan will share not only the secrets behind her signature dishes but also the stories and cultural heritage that inspire them. Her food is an expression of love — a celebration of family, memory, and the Filipino tradition of gathering around the table.
Pre-registration includes a full tasting plate (limited to 25 participants), with sample tastings available for walk-ins.
Afternoon of Celebration: Filipino Day Fiesta!
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM | APCC Main Auditorium
The spirit of Bayanihan comes alive in the afternoon as APCC transforms into a joyful Filipino Fiesta — a Family Fun Fiesta for all ages!

The celebration will feature special guest performances by:

Chef Jan Parker — Live culinary showcase
Mikayla Monet — Master of Ceremonies and performer
And to close out the day, one lucky attendee will win a round-trip ticket to the Philippines, courtesy of Philippine Airlines!
The Spirit of Bayanihan
At its heart, Filipino Day is more than a celebration — it’s a homecoming. It’s a space where generations gather to share stories, preserve culture, and honor the journeys that brought us here.
From the nurses who cared for others in their most vulnerable moments, to the chefs who nourish our bodies and souls, to the artists and youth who keep our heritage alive — this day is for all who carry the Bayanihan spirit forward.
Join us for a day of remembrance, connection, and celebration. Together, we honor our past, uplift our present, and build a future rooted in unity, compassion, and Filipino pride.

Snow Rider 3D has multiple cognitive and skill-related benefits, despite its seemingly lighthearted nature. By coordinating rapid, accurate motions while navigating the sled and dodging virtual hazards, players hone their hand-eye coordination. Because players need to pay close attention and adjust to new circumstances quickly, the game also improves concentration and reaction time.
